- All the moms I knew raved about this ointment and I thought this was going to the fix for our baby, but it didn’t work! It was quite defeating when it “worked for everyon else.” In hind sight, I don’t think it worked for Evan because of his allergies to the things I was eating and he was taking in through my breastmilk.
- Aquaphor Healing Ointment – without a doubt, our most regularly used product! Our doctor recommended we put on Aquaphor 3-4 times a day.
- Eucerin Baby Eczema Relief Cream
Specialty Treatments
- Hydrocortisone 1% cream (short-term use – consult pediatrician) – mildest topical corticosteroid, available OTC in low strengths (e.g., 0.5% or 1%)
- Prescription creams (from pediatrician or dermatologist) – we have been prescribed the following in order of potency:
- Desonide – mildest one
- The “fluti” as we call it for his face; its official name is fluticasone (Mayo Clinic)
- “Tri” Triamcinolone
- Wet wrap therapy – A friend who has several young kids with eczema said this was the only thing that helped them; ask your care provider for guidance. We didn’t end up using because the steroids helped, but there isn’t anything I wouldn’t have tried to help with our baby’s eczema.
