My son turned 4 months a couple weeks ago, and these past few months have been full of so many beautiful “firsts.” I’ve witnessed his first smile, his first laugh, his first time sleeping through the night (and without a swaddle), and his journey with his one and only cranial helmet. Now, I’m eagerly awaiting more milestones—like rolling (please roll soon!).
There’s something magical about all the “firsts.” His first taste of pureed food, his first family trip, his first swim, his first spring—each one feels a glimpse into his growing personality and how he’s starting to experience the world. These moments make him feel even more human to me, as I begin to see his preferences and see how perceives his surroundings.
January 20th: his first snow day (~4 inches of snow). I took a picture of him looking out from our front door at the blindingly bright snow. He probably didn’t fully register what he was seeing (it was his first time, after all), but I was excited enough for both of us.

I hope to cherish all of these firsts and someday look back on these moments with a sense of longing when he’s a big kid. They’re fleeting, but they’re the kind of memories that will bring a smile to my face every time.

I created a page on play/activities in preparation for his first swim. I’ve included other play spaces for kids.
